Intertwined is a quartet led by pianist and composer Sujae Jung, combining contemporary jazz with elements of Korean traditional music. The group features Satoshi Takeishi on drums, Ned Rothenberg on alto saxophone, Wolf Robert Stratmann on double bass, and Sujae Jung on piano and synthesizer.

The music is based on two important elements of Korean traditional music, called Gug-ak: Jangdan (rhythmic patterns) and Sigimsae (musical ornamentation). These traditional elements are blended with contemporary jazz to create original compositions that reflect Sujae’s personal background and musical voice.

Inspired by the beauty of Korean nature, Intertwined creates a sound that feels honest, spacious, and connected. The band’s name reflects its spirit: different traditions, emotions, and people coming together through music.
