Yoon Sun Choi
Yoon Sun Choi, born in South Korea, raised in Canada and now a New York-based improvising vocalist and pianist using her vocal prowess that transitions effortlessly from resonant, haunting melodies to deep, resonant wails. Yoon has made significant contributions to the music scene over her twenty-year-long career performing and collaborating with esteemed artists including Mark Dresser, Darius Jones, Jacob Sacks, and Kenny Wheeler, on prestigious stages such as The Blue Note, Birdland, and Carnegie Hall.
Barbara Mansukhani, a California-based saxophonist, composer, and improviser originally from Mexico, explores jazz, experimental, and improvisational music. Self-taught, she is currently guided by Michaël Attias and has studied with Ralph Alessi. She is working on a duo recording with guitarist Chris Janzen, a quartet with Aaron Quinn (guitar), Jeong Lim Yang (bass), and Yuko Tagami (drums), and a trio with Quinn and Diego Hedez (trumpet). A detail-oriented artist with a deep love for sound, she remains open to endless explorations, always seeking new ways to shape and experience music.
Tammy Scheffer
Vocalist and composer Tammy Scheffer has been a creative force in NYC’s vibrant music scene for more than a decade. Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as “innovative, provocative and alluring.” Scheffer lends her voice to ensembles that range from jazz to progressive rock, from improvised music to modern classical music. Most recently she has been collaborating with bassist Moto Fukushima, composer Asuka Kakitani, vibraphonist Stefan Bauer, and The Brooklyn Jazz Underground. Tammy performed at Carnegie Hall and Birdland in NYC, Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Revoice Festival in London, MISA Festival in China, San Sebastian Jazz Festival in Spain, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Chicago Cultural Center, and many other premier stages.
Tomoko Omura is a Japanese-born jazz violinist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Raised in Shizuoka, Japan, she began violin studies at age four and later self-taught jazz while attending Yokohama National University. In 2004, she moved to the U.S. to study at Berklee College of Music, where she became the first violinist to receive the Roy Haynes Award. Omura has released six albums, including “Branches Vol. 2,” named Bandcamp’s “Best Jazz of 2021.” She has performed at renowned venues such as the Village Vanguard, Lincoln Center, and Blue Note, and collaborated with artists like Paquito D’Rivera, Kenny Barron, and Christian McBride. In 2021, she was named #1 Rising Star Violinist by DownBeat Magazine’s Critics Poll
