Yoon Sun Choi, born in South Korea, raised in Canada and now a New York-based improvising vocalist and pianist using her vocal prowess that transitions effortlessly from resonant, haunting melodies to deep, resonant wails. Yoon has made significant contributions to the music scene over her twenty-year-long career performing and collaborating with esteemed artists including Mark Dresser, Darius Jones, Jacob Sacks, and Kenny Wheeler, on prestigious stages such as The Blue Note, Birdland, and Carnegie Hall.
Hailed as “outstanding,” with a “street-smart, feline voice” (The New York Times), Meaghan Burke is a cellist, singer-songwriter, and composer working in spaces between contemporary music, improvised music, and song. Meaghan is a founding member of contemporary feminist string quartet The Rhythm Method, avant-grunge band Forever House, and Viennese songwriting collective Loose Lips Sink Ships. Meaghan’s latest album of songs with The Rhythm Method, “A Few Concerns” (Gold Bolus Recordings) was described as “a smart, feisty album that is both provocative and a pleasure to listen to.” (I Care If You Listen) Meaghan is a frequent guest performer with many of NYC’s contemporary ensembles, including International Contemporary Ensemble, TAK, and S.E.M. Ensemble, aswell as Miho Hazama’s Grammy-nominated jazz chamber band m-unit, and just completed a run of Gypsy on Broadway as principal cellist.
Yuko Togami is a drummer, composer, and improviser based in New York, originally from Japan. Since moving to NYC in 2013 and graduating from The City College of New York, she has performed at renowned venues including the Blue Note (NY), Roulette Intermedium, and Sunset Sunside (Paris). Her debut album Dawn (2018) earned a Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards, showcasing her individual voice as a bandleader and composer.
Jazz singer, songwriter, and lyricist, Allegra Levy, has been called everything from “sophisticated, worldly, and swinging” to “the new pin-up girl for cool.” She has released five albums on SteepleChase Records and is at the helm of “Songs for you and me- a kid’s-swing-a-long”. A big jazz band for little ears. Allegra is on the leadership team of the Women in Jazz Organization and is the Program Administration Manager of Jazz at The New School.
