Wide Angle formed in 2021 as the trio of Nick Lyons, John McCutcheon, and Gene Perla has recently reconvened and recorded what will be their second album. They will play two sets. Gene Perla is known for his long associations with Elvin Jones, Don Alias, and Steve Grossman; stints with Sarah Vaughn, Stan Gets, Nina Simone; and as the founder of PM Records. John McCutcheon is a master drum artist who has played with Sonny Stitt and Connie Crothers among many others. He originated in Pittsburgh, where he developed under the tutelage of Alphonse "Bumpty" Washington. Nick Lyons is an alto saxophonist who improvised across, through, and often directly in the middle of the intersection of tunes and free playing.
